The new year is officially here, meaning it’s only a matter of days before we give in and break that certain fragile resolution and hit that Buy Now button without putting up much a fight. Strangely enough, the hype machine is humming a low and dull sound and much of what’s already confirmed for 2019 doesn’t seem to be garnering that bull-in-a-china-shop excitement that recklessly crashed through each month of enter-this-raffle releases. But we assure you – there’s a lot in store for us and the fact that there is no pointed direction of anticipation could quite honestly result in one of the most interesting years in sneakers in recent memory. There are new basketball shoes, priced really low and insanely high, in the works, and your favorite noise-making collaborators of 2018 will be joined by fresh names. Here’s our ranking of the 10 most anticipated sneakers of 2019 that we know of, and stay tuned for updates on these releases.
1.Fear of God x Nike
Jerry Lorenzo had a dominate year in 2018 by releasing his first-ever Nike collaboration with the debut of the Nike Air Fear of God 1 – which was our Sneaker of the Year, as well as the Fear of God x Nike Air Skylon 2. In 2019, Jerry will not only release some new Nike models, like the Nike Air Fear of God Moccasin, but more colorways of the Air Fear of God 1 and SA version.
2.“Concord” Air Jordan 11
It doesn’t get any better than this. Just like how the “Concord” Air Jordan 11 returned in original form in 2018, the “Bred” Air Jordan 11 will arrive in 2019 with the high-cut patent leather and possibly 45 on the heels. Total geek out mode!
3. adidas Yeezy Basketball
Kanye West and adidas Hoops will be debuting their new Yeezy Basketball model in 2019. Having a similar build as the Yeezy Boost 350 V2, but comes with an extended ankle collar, suede overlays on the toe highlighted with reflective detailing.
4. Air Jordan 4 Bred
Much like the “Black Infrared” Air Jordan 6, Jordan Brand will be bringing back the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” with Nike Air as a follow up to the “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3 in 2018.
5. Air Jordan 6 Black Infrared
The Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared”, which was worn by Michael Jordan during his first NBA championship, will be returning in 2019. The best part about this release is that it will return with OG-style Nike Air branding.
6. adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 GID
At the end of 2018, adidas Yeezy brought us some reflective Yeezy Boost 350 V2s. In 2019, they’ll be releasing some GID (Glow in the Dark) colorways to bring back the Yeezy hype.
